My colleague and I both started the day feeling sick. We commiserated with each other and then began our work. A few hours later, I asked her how she was holding up. Surprise: She felt better and so did I! Neither of us knew what caused our improvement, but we enjoyed the rest of our day working together. I never project negativity or bad health into the next moment. Due to the nature of my illness, I don’t know how I’m going to feel. Even when discouraged, I choose to be purposely optimistic. I’ve learned through the years that a bad day can inexplicably get better. And when it does, I’m always thrilled.
